‘The bicycles’ announce Aceves Navarro retrospective
“Las bicicletas” (“the bicycles”) outside Mexico City’s Museo de Palacio de Bellas Artes is one of two works created by artist Gilberto Aceves Navarro especially for the museum’s retrospective exhibition of his art.
The sculptures are made of flat metal, and more than 60 of them have been placed around the grand marble plaza in front of the museum, as well as on the walkways approaching the building.
The exhibition, which looks back on more than five decades of work from the artist, was curated by Luis Ruiz and contains more than 400 pieces including paintings, drawing, recorded installations and sculptures.
The show is divided into three parts: the first covers the early development of the artist’s work; the second features self-portraits and some works representing his pictorial history; and the third part examines Aceves Navarro’s work since 2000.
The exhibition runs until January 19th, 2009.

Just to echo what Richard said (and I am a liberal) I think the military and justice are firmly in the Governments purview. I also think they need to be strongly regulated. A view I think is pretty consistent with what I believe needs to happen economically. Deregulation has been responsible for many of the woes we are currently suffering through, and yet the Right wants to further emasculate regulation (and the Dems only half heartedly push for regulation of most industries.)
